Try Something New This Mother’s Day

Mother's Day Ideas

There is a lot to feel happy about right now with the bright spring days and the long Easter weekend fast approaching. Here at Oilixia HQ, we are also pretty excited about Mother’s Day. While it’s lovely to spoil mum with a bunch of colourful flowers and a big box of chocolates, we always love to explore new ways of celebrating.

So instead of a traditional spa weekend or lunch at a fancy restaurant, why not try out one of these unique ways to celebrate the lady who gave you life in all its glory…

Indulge your sweet tooth at a Luxury Chocolate Making Masterclass courtesy of North London sweeties My Chocolate. You will spend two-and-a-half glorious hours learning some of the finest chocolate making skills from the Master Chocolatier with plenty of exotic flavoured chocs to sample along the way. Whip up your very own Chocolate Martini and handmade chocolate fudge while sipping on Prosecco. At the end of the class, both you and mum will leave with 15 of your own handmade chocolates in a beautiful gift bag.

If you’re looking for chocolate creation with a more artistic twist, try Food at Heart’s Experimental Chocolate Club. During the two-and-a-half hour session, you will focus on the craft of chocolate tasting and flavour combining. Chocolate has hundreds of flavour compounds (even more than wine), so the possibilities are endless!

London is a haven for exhibitions and The Image of Motherhood at Tate Britain is something very special. This tour takes visitors on a journey across thousands of years and through the cult of motherhood, from the ancient Egyptian goddess Isis to the works of George Romney and Barbara Hepworth. You and mum will admire images of maternity and how they have developed over the years for a very memorable experience.

Your mum probably taught you some of the greatest lessons you’ve learnt in life. Now it’s time to return the favour! Get back to nature with a Floristry Workshop held by the super-talented Emily Ayres of Design by Nature. Held at Coppa Club in Tower Bridge and followed by brunch, the 45-minute class will take you through the floral process from vase arrangement to artistic style. It’s the perfect way to indulge your creative energies.

If this sounds like your cup of tea but you live outside London, The Flower School offers a fresh range of courses year-round around Brighton and Sussex. They offer bespoke courses in your own home and you can even make your own floral crown.

If you fancy enjoying the great outdoors, take a stroll through the Kyoto Japanese Garden in Holland Park, London. A landscape design bathed in tranquility makes this somewhere very beautiful to take mum and enjoy one of London’s best-kept secrets. For gardens and botanical discovery on a larger scale, a trip to Kew Gardens is always a wonderful day out.

Away from the big city, a horse ride through the New Forest is a beautiful way to spend the day, or take a long and winding hike down the Pembrokeshire Coast and through the National Park taking in beaches, St David’s Cathedral and deserted beaches along the way.

Of course, mum isn’t the only one that should be spoilt this Mother’s Day, which is why we’re giving every Oilixia customer a special offer. When you buy one Amazonian Cacay Facial Oil, you will get 20% off our Australian Kakadu Plum Gummy Facial Cleanser. Simply use the code GUMMY at the checkout with both items in your shopping cart and the discount will be applied automatically.

Happy Mother’s Day!
