With the UK Bank Holiday coming up this weekend, we’ve curated 5 mini adventures around the country to keep everyone in your tribe entertained!
1. Sample All Things Free-From in London
Anyone who lives the free-from lifestyle knows just how exciting it is to find new products! Make your way over to Old Spitalfields Market this Monday for the Free-From Festival featuring a whole collection of goodies free from gluten, refined sugar and / or dairy. Producers include Mae Deli by Deliciously Ella as well as Romeo’s Sugar-Free Bakery, as well as cookery demonstrations, recipe inspo, free samples and live music. They’re even serving cocktails free from refined sugar. Yes, please.
2. Eat and Drink to Your Heart’s Content in Leeds
For foodies up north, there’s another tasty celebration taking place. The Leeds Corn Exchange will be taken over by Afsaneh’s Persian Kitchen for one night only. This Saturday 27th, they will host a supper club evening with huge Mezzo platters and slow cooked meat dishes all made with authentic Persian ingredients.
If you fancy a very indulgent weekend (and who doesn’t?!), return to the Corn Exchange the following day for the Meet the Merchants Wine Fair. The finest local independent traders will be handing out free samples and expert advice on all things wine-related. There will also be chocolate and cheeseboards.
3. Explore Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh
If you want to open your eyes a little wider to what the world has to offer, Our Dynamic Earth is the place to be. A series of exceptional natural science exhibits take you on a journey through the Big Bang and evolution, down to the ocean floor and through the tropical rainforest. The 360-degree immersive Show Dome experience is unmissable.
4. Embrace the Countryside Spirit in Surrey
Nothing says Bank Holiday quite like a good old country show – and the historic city of Guildford in Surrey is providing us with the goods. This Monday 29th May, they will host the annual county show with highlights including horse and rider competitions, a petting zoo complete with piglets and miniature donkeys and the Countryside Arena where falconry, sheep dog trials and other country-themed activities will take place. It’s also foodie heaven with a delectable selection of local foods available to sample and to take home. Forget farm to table, this is farm to town and it’s very entertaining.
